Welcoming Mr. J!

We are excited to welcome Mr. Kenneth Johnson to our teaching faculty at CKDS!

Kenneth Johnson, a Memphis native, mover, creative, and shaker, holds a Bachelor's degree in dance from the University of Memphis, specializing in performance, composition, and improvisation. He refined his skills at Duke University's American Dance Festival and performed with Bridging Souls Dance Company. An award-winning choreographer, Kenneth has worked with many studios, dance teams, and dance companies across the southern U.S., in addition to consulting for the NBA and NFL. Kenneth currently serves as the artistic director for Grace Church Middle Dance Company, bringing his passion and expertise to young dancers.

Also known as Mr. J, he will be teaching Contemporary dance choreography to our Ensemble Dancers on Sundays. Please give him a warm "hello" if you see him around!

Cynthia King

A professional dancer since 1978, Cynthia King has been teaching and choreographing since 1986. Training extensively at the Boston Conservatory and The Ailey School, King honed her skills under the tutelage of legendary dancers including Emiko and Yasuko Tokunaga, Carmen DeLavallade, Diane McIntyre, and Rod Rodgers (of whose dance company she became a member). She has taught dance in Brooklyn at P.S. 315, Poly Prep, and I.S. 62 in addition to Cynthia King Dance Studio (CKDS).
